CJEL DIGITAL IMAGING EDUCATION SOLUTION PTY LTD (ABN 59 630 412 047; ACN 630 412 047) ("CJEL") operates the MyUniMentor project and online service ("MyUniMentor"). References to "MyUniMentor", "we", "us" or "our" mean CJEL in its capacity as operator of the MyUniMentor project.
1. Purpose
MyUniMentor is primarily a peer-mentoring platform.
Some questions require regulated professional assistance. This Policy creates a safe hand-off from student experience-sharing to authorised professional help.
2. Student experience remains permitted
A Mentor may, within the law:
- - describe their own experience;
- - describe general practical steps they personally encountered;
- - point to official public information;
- - say when a question is beyond their role.
3. Immigration assistance
Ordinary student Mentors must not provide personalised immigration assistance unless legally authorised.
For immigration matters, MyUniMentor may refer users to:
- - a registered migration agent; or
- - an Australian legal practitioner.
4. Migration agent verification
Before labelling a migration agent "Verified", MyUniMentor should record:
- - full name;
- - business name;
- - MARN;
- - current registration status;
- - date checked;
- - service area/languages only where substantiated.
Registration should be rechecked:
- - at least every 90 days;
- - before a major promotional campaign;
- - after a relevant complaint;
- - before renewing a paid listing.
5. Legal practitioner verification
Where an Australian legal practitioner is listed for immigration assistance, MyUniMentor should verify current practising status through an appropriate official/professional source and record the check date.
6. Separate professional engagement
At launch, regulated professional services should be a separate engagement from the student's Mentor Booking.
The Professional Provider should clearly state:
- - provider identity;
- - professional status;
- - fees;
- - engagement terms;
- - professional complaint information;
- - any required professional disclosures.
7. MyUniMentor's role
Unless a separate written arrangement says otherwise, MyUniMentor acts as a directory/referral facilitator and does not itself provide the regulated professional advice.
8. Referral fees
Conservative launch position:
- - MyUniMentor should not take a percentage of the professional's advice fee until an Australian solicitor confirms the arrangement and any professional-conduct implications.
- - A fixed advertising/listing arrangement may be used only under a written agreement and with appropriate disclosure.
- - Sponsored placement must be clearly labelled.
9. Ranking
Professional ranking may consider:
- - verified status;
- - service category;
- - language;
- - location;
- - availability;
- - genuine user feedback.
Sponsored placement must not be presented as independent merit-based ranking.
10. Privacy
Before sending a user's personal information to a Professional Provider, MyUniMentor must:
- - identify the provider;
- - explain what will be shared;
- - explain why;
- - obtain appropriate consent or rely on another lawful basis.
11. No outcome guarantees
MyUniMentor and Professional Provider listings must not guarantee:
- - visa grant;
- - permanent residency;
- - admission;
- - review/appeal success;
- - processing time;
- - employment.
12. Complaints
Users may report:
- - suspected unregistered practice;
- - misleading professional claims;
- - privacy concerns;
- - undisclosed payments;
- - inappropriate conduct.
13. Lapsed registration
If a Professional Provider's required registration cannot be confirmed:
- - remove/suspend the "Verified" label;
- - stop new referrals where appropriate;
- - preserve the audit record;
- - assess whether affected users should be notified.
14. No Mentor kickbacks
Mentors and Super Mentors must not receive undisclosed personal payments or benefits for steering users to a Professional Provider.
15. Professional Provider agreement
Every paid/listed Professional Provider should have a written agreement covering:
- - accurate registration;
- - notification of status changes;
- - lawful advertising;
- - no guarantees;
- - privacy;
- - complaints;
- - insurance where applicable;
- - indemnity for professional misconduct;
- - sponsored-placement disclosure;
- - termination/removal rights.
