1. Your Booking
You are booking the Mentor Service shown in the checkout summary. These Booking Terms apply to paid Bookings and to Bookings of $0 services.
The Booking record should preserve:
- - Mentor;
- - service description;
- - delivery mode;
- - scheduled date/time and number of hours;
- - Mentor Service Price;
- - Mentee Platform Fee;
- - Membership Fee if applicable;
- - GST/tax display;
- - cancellation rule;
- - whether it is a one-to-one or Group Session Booking;
- - applicable legal-document versions.
2. Supplier of the Mentor Service
The identified Mentor supplies the peer Mentor Service. CJEL supplies the Platform and collects the Mentor Service Price as the Mentor's limited agent; payment to CJEL discharges your obligation to pay the Mentor to that extent.
Nothing in these Terms changes any legal supplier characterisation required by law.
2A. New Mentors
Some Mentors show a New Mentor label because they are new to MyUniMentor. A New Mentor delivers your session themselves. You pay that Mentor's disclosed price and the same Platform Fee as for any other Booking; prices differ between Mentors.
2B. Group Sessions
You book a place in a Group Session the same way as a one-to-one Booking, by choosing a date and number of hours, at the Mentor's group price per participant. Where the Mentor has published a fixed group time, you may take one of its seats (up to two per time) instead; if it is full when you try to pay, payment does not proceed. Other participants will hear what is shared in the session. If you are the only participant, the session goes ahead unless the Mentor cancels, in which case you are refunded in full. Your place is your own Booking: you pay, confirm delivery, rate and raise any dispute separately from any other Mentee.
2C. Session length
Your Booking covers the number of hours you book. If you want more time, make a new Booking. Sessions are not extended for extra payment.
2D. Free sessions
Some Mentors offer services at a price of $0 as part of their own career development. Where a Mentor Service has a price of $0, no Mentor Commission or percentage Platform Fee is charged. $0 services are for members: if membership is required and has not already been paid and kept, the one-time $10 Membership Fee is shown with the price and before the Booking is confirmed, and the Membership Agreement applies. A member does not pay it again. Access depends on Mentor availability; no number of $0 sessions is guaranteed. The Mentor is not paid and receives no part of the Membership Fee.
After a $0 session, the Mentor may ask you to confirm the time they spent, so it can be recorded on their contribution record. Confirm only what is accurate. You may decline; an administrator then reviews the claim on the available evidence.
2E. When your Booking is confirmed
You pay at checkout and your Booking is sent to the Mentor as a request. Your Booking is confirmed when the Mentor accepts it. If the Mentor declines, withdraws or does not respond within 48 hours (or before the session start, if sooner), we will tell you and try to arrange another suitable Mentor, or a MyUniMentor team member, for the same session. You can instead cancel at any time before the session and receive a full refund, including the Platform Fee and any Membership Fee charged with the Booking. If no replacement is confirmed before the session, the Booking is cancelled and fully refunded. If payment fails, no Booking is made.
If your Mentor does not act. MyUniMentor monitors every Booking. If your Mentor does not accept in time, does not reply to your messages, or does not open or complete the session, we may remind them, arrange another Mentor or a MyUniMentor team member, or cancel the Booking and refund you in full. Before the session you can always choose a full refund instead of a replacement.
3. Charges
The current model is:
- - Mentor Service Price: set by Mentor, per hour, multiplied by the number of hours you book;
- - Mentee Platform Fee: 10% of Mentor Service Price;
- - Membership Fee: $10 once if this Booking triggers it.
The total payable must be displayed before you confirm payment. Payment is taken by Stripe.
4. GST
GST will be displayed only where required by law and supported by the actual tax status of the relevant supplier.
At the date this suite was prepared, ABN Lookup showed CJEL was not currently registered for GST. The checkout must therefore not show a blanket 10% GST line for CJEL's own fees unless CJEL's GST status changes and tax advice confirms the treatment.
CJEL collects the Mentor Service Price on the Mentor's behalf and pays it to the Mentor less the Mentor Commission. CJEL's own charges are the Mentee Platform Fee, the Mentor Commission and the Membership Fee.
A Mentor's GST position may be different and should be handled according to the final marketplace invoicing design.
5. Confirmation and payout
After the session:
- - the Mentor may mark the Booking complete;
- - you may confirm that the Mentor Service occurred;
- - your confirmation authorises release of the Mentor payout subject to payment processing.
You are not required to leave a rating to confirm delivery.
6. If you report a problem
If you report a problem before payout:
- - payout is placed on hold;
- - the Booking enters the dispute process;
- - an administrator reviews evidence;
- - no payout occurs automatically.
7. If you do nothing
If you have not responded within 14 days after the Mentor marks the Booking complete, CJEL will refer it to an authorised administrator and notify both parties. Silence alone is not confirmation and is not an allegation of misconduct. Each party will ordinarily have three business days to provide evidence, and CJEL will aim to decide within five business days after that. Any further hold must have an identified reason and a notified review date no more than five business days later. Confirming a session, or a payout, does not waive your remaining legal rights.
8. Cancellation and rescheduling
The version of the Cancellation, Refund and Dispute Policy shown at checkout applies.
Any refund shown before you cancel is the amount you will receive. Where the Platform cannot process a refund automatically, CJEL arranges it by another lawful method.
9. Peer mentoring limitations
A standard Mentor Booking is not a booking for:
- - migration advice;
- - legal advice;
- - financial advice;
- - clinical/medical advice;
- - guaranteed admission, visa, academic or employment results.
10. Visa questions
Your Mentor may share personal experience.
If you need personalised immigration assistance, MyUniMentor may refer you to a registered migration agent or Australian legal practitioner under a separate professional engagement.
11. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Booking Terms excludes any non-excludable right under the Australian Consumer Law.
12. Acceptance evidence
MyUniMentor should store:
- - Booking ID;
- - Booking Terms version;
- - acceptance timestamp;
- - exact checkout snapshot;
- - cancellation-policy version;
- - IP/user-agent where lawfully collected.
