CJEL DIGITAL IMAGING EDUCATION SOLUTION PTY LTD (ABN 59 630 412 047; ACN 630 412 047) ("CJEL") operates the MyUniMentor project and online service ("MyUniMentor"). References to "MyUniMentor", "we", "us" or "our" mean CJEL in its capacity as operator of the MyUniMentor project.
This agreement is between CJEL DIGITAL IMAGING EDUCATION SOLUTION PTY LTD (ABN 59 630 412 047; ACN 630 412 047) and the user accepting it as a Mentor.
1. Purpose
MyUniMentor lets experienced students provide peer mentoring to newer students and creates a pathway for Mentors to develop leadership, Community Contribution and career evidence.
2. Intended relationship
You are intended to provide Mentor Services as a non-exclusive independent service provider.
You:
- - decide whether to offer services;
- - set your own Mentor Service Price;
- - choose your availability;
- - decide whether to accept available Booking requests;
- - may stop offering services;
- - may provide services elsewhere, subject to lawful confidentiality and non-circumvention obligations.
There is no minimum hours requirement and no guaranteed income or Booking volume.
However, the actual legal relationship is determined by law. Nothing in this Agreement removes a status or protection that applies to you as an employee, contractor, employee-like worker or other regulated worker.
3. Eligibility
You must:
- - be at least 18;
- - meet the current student/recent-graduate eligibility criteria;
- - provide accurate information;
- - complete requested identity and study verification;
- - maintain payment-provider onboarding where required;
- - comply with the Code of Conduct.
4. Your profile
You are responsible for ensuring that your profile:
- - is accurate;
- - does not exaggerate qualifications or experience;
- - does not imply professional registration you do not hold;
- - does not promise outcomes.
5. Permitted Mentor Services
You may provide experience-based peer support such as:
- - student life;
- - settling in;
- - campus and university systems;
- - study habits;
- - accommodation-search experience;
- - cultural adjustment;
- - language/cultural exchange;
- - personal experience of processes you have genuinely gone through.
6. Prohibited services
Unless lawfully authorised under a separate approved professional role, you must not:
- - complete assessable work;
- - substantially write work another student will submit as their own;
- - sit an assessment or exam for someone;
- - impersonate a student;
- - falsify documents;
- - provide personalised immigration assistance;
- - provide legal, financial, medical or clinical advice;
- - misrepresent yourself as a registered professional;
- - guarantee admission, visa, employment, academic or other outcomes.
7. Visa questions
You may share your own experience and direct a user to official information.
Unless legally authorised, you must not:
- - assess a person's visa eligibility;
- - recommend a visa strategy;
- - tell a person how migration law applies to their individual circumstances;
- - prepare or materially assist with a visa application as immigration assistance;
- - represent a person in a migration matter;
- - guarantee a visa outcome.
Where a Mentee seeks individual immigration assistance, you must stop that part of the peer discussion and recommend an appropriately authorised Professional Provider or official information.
You must not accept an undisclosed personal referral payment from a Professional Provider.
8. Price
You set your Mentor Service Price.
You must not mislead Mentees about what is included.
9. Mentor Commission
For each paid Booking:
- - Standard Mentor Commission: 10% of the Mentor Service Price.
- - Super Mentor Commission: 5% of the Mentor Service Price.
The applicable rate is fixed when the Booking is confirmed.
10. Mentee Platform Fee
The Mentee currently pays a separate 10% Mentee Platform Fee on top of your Mentor Service Price.
That fee is not deducted from your listed price.
11. GST, tax and reporting
You are responsible for your own income-tax and GST obligations except where the law places an obligation on MyUniMentor.
We may collect and report seller/transaction information where required by law, including under applicable electronic-platform reporting regimes.
12. Payment release
You are paid only after:
- - the Mentee confirms the Mentor Service occurred; or
- - an authorised administrator makes an evidence-based payment decision.
There is no automatic payout merely because time passes.
13. Confirmation is separate from rating
A Mentee must be able to confirm delivery without being forced to rate you.
A rating or review is optional.
14. Disputes
If a Mentee disputes the Booking:
- - payout is placed on hold;
- - both parties may be asked for evidence;
- - an authorised administrator decides the payment outcome;
- - the decision and reasons are recorded.
You must cooperate reasonably with the process.
15. Refunds and chargebacks
If a lawful refund or chargeback occurs after you have been paid, you may owe back the portion properly attributable to your payout.
We may:
- - notify you;
- - give you a reasonable opportunity to respond where the issue is disputed;
- - recover a confirmed negative balance from future payouts to the extent permitted by law.
We will not recover amounts caused by our own error from you unless law permits and the allocation is fair.
16. Reviews
Mentees may publish genuine ratings and reviews.
We may remove content that breaches published rules but will not remove a genuine negative review merely because you disagree with it.
17. Community Contribution
Community Contribution is optional.
You are not required to complete a minimum number of unpaid hours to remain a Mentor.
There is no compulsory roster and no penalty for declining Community Contribution.
You may record no more than 8 unpaid Community Contribution hours in any Contribution Week, measured Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 in Australia/Sydney time.
Unused weekly hours do not carry forward. Genuine verified hours remain cumulative over your participation with no lifetime maximum.
18. No substitution for paid operational work
Community Contribution must not be used as a substitute for core operational work that MyUniMentor would ordinarily need to engage staff or contractors to perform.
If MyUniMentor needs you to perform substantial operational, administrative, moderation, sales, support or other productive business work, that work should be separately classified and, where legally required, paid.
19. Student visa work limits
If you hold a visa with work restrictions, you are responsible for complying with those conditions.
MyUniMentor does not promise that unpaid Community Contribution falls outside visa "work".
If Community Contribution legally counts as work, you must count those hours together with all other work you perform when checking your visa conditions.
The 8-hour weekly cap is a MyUniMentor policy and is not a guarantee that your total work complies with your visa.
You should check VEVO and obtain authorised advice if uncertain.
20. Super Mentor status
Super Mentor status recognises experienced Mentors who demonstrate suitable:
- - mentoring quality;
- - integrity;
- - reliability;
- - peer support;
- - Community Contribution;
- - leadership;
- - good standing.
There is no mandatory fixed hours threshold.
MyUniMentor may recognise a high-performing Mentor early where documented merit supports it.
21. Super Mentor role
A Super Mentor may:
- - orient newer Mentors;
- - share good mentoring practice;
- - help explain Platform processes;
- - support peer learning;
- - create approved resources;
- - refer concerns to administrators.
A Super Mentor does not automatically have authority to:
- - decide disputes;
- - release or refund money;
- - suspend or deactivate users;
- - access restricted identity/payment data;
- - bind MyUniMentor;
- - speak as a company manager;
- - provide regulated professional advice.
22. Super Mentor benefits
While status is active, benefits may include:
- - 5% Mentor Commission;
- - status display;
- - uncapped verified contribution record;
- - merit awards;
- - disclosed ranking advantages.
Status changes apply prospectively and do not reprice confirmed Bookings.
23. Career records
You may request a factual record showing:
- - role;
- - dates;
- - verified Community Contribution Hours;
- - actual peer-support responsibilities;
- - legitimate awards;
- - paid mentoring activity where clearly identified.
You must not alter or misrepresent a record.
24. Safety and professional boundaries
You must:
- - respect Mentee privacy;
- - avoid harassment and exploitation;
- - maintain appropriate boundaries;
- - not use immigration status as leverage;
- - not pursue sexual or romantic contact through coercion, pressure or misuse of the mentoring relationship.
25. Confidentiality
You must not disclose another user's private information except:
- - with permission;
- - to make a good-faith safety/reporting complaint;
- - where required or permitted by law.
26. Insurance
You are responsible for obtaining any insurance reasonably appropriate to your own independent activities unless MyUniMentor expressly confirms coverage.
MyUniMentor may require insurance for specific higher-risk service categories.
27. Temporary restriction
We may temporarily restrict your account where reasonably necessary for:
- - safety;
- - fraud;
- - serious misconduct;
- - verification;
- - payment security;
- - legal compliance.
28. Deactivation
Permanent deactivation should follow the Moderation, Suspension and Deactivation Procedure and any mandatory Fair Work process that applies.
Where practicable, you will receive:
- - notice;
- - reasons;
- - an opportunity to respond;
- - an internal review path.
29. No authority to bind MyUniMentor
Unless separately appointed in writing, you cannot:
- - enter contracts on our behalf;
- - promise refunds;
- - make legal commitments for us;
- - represent that you are our employee or authorised representative.
This clause does not determine statutory worker status.
30. Ending participation
You may stop offering services at any time.
Existing Bookings should be completed or cancelled according to the applicable policy.
Outstanding payment, dispute, refund, confidentiality and record-integrity obligations survive as appropriate.
31. Incorporated documents
The Platform Terms, Privacy Policy, Booking Terms, Cancellation/Refund/Dispute Policy, Code of Conduct and Community Contribution/Super Mentor Policy apply as relevant.
