Step 1
Create your free account
Sign up from the top-right corner of any page and choose Mentee. It takes a couple of minutes, you can use your email or your Google account, and you do not need a card — you only pay when you book something.

Step 2
Find mentors who have walked your path
Browse current students and narrow the list by university, major, city, language or nationality. Every profile shows where they study, what they study, the languages they speak and the services they offer.

Step 3
Pick a service — or start with a free chat
Mentors list what they genuinely help with: application and enrolment support, choosing a course or major, finding accommodation, a tour of campus, academic tutoring, language and cultural exchange.
Each listing shows its price and how it is delivered — online or in person, one-to-one or a small group. You can search by service instead of by person if you already know what you need.

Step 4
Book a time and pay securely
Agree a time with your mentor and pay through the platform. The price on the listing is the mentor's own price and it does not move — the 10% service fee is added on top and shown as its own line, so there is nothing buried in the total.
Your money is held from that moment. It does not reach the mentor until you say the session happened.

Step 5
Confirm the session, then rate it
When the session is done your mentor marks it complete, and you are asked to confirm. Confirming — with a rating — is what releases their payment, which is why a mentor cannot be paid for a session that never happened.
If you do not respond, nothing is paid out automatically. After 14 days our team reviews the session and decides based on the evidence — your money is never released without your say-so or a human decision.

Does it cost anything to sign up?
No. Creating an account, browsing mentors and messaging them is free. You only pay when you book a session, and a one-time $10 membership is charged on your second booking.
How do I know a mentor is really a student?
Every mentor uploads photo ID and a current academic transcript, and a person on our team reviews them before the profile can go live. That check is the reason the directory is worth trusting.
What exactly am I charged?
The mentor's listed price, plus a 10% service fee shown as a separate line. A $30 session is charged as $33. GST is displayed for your records but is not added to the total, because mentors are independent and handle their own tax.
What if the session does not happen?
Your payment is held until you confirm the session took place. If it did not happen, do not confirm it — contact us and we will sort it out rather than release the money.
Can I talk to a mentor before paying?
Yes. Once you have an account you can message any mentor for free and ask whatever you need to before you book, so you can get a feel for whether they are the right fit first.
Do I have to be an international student?
No. Most of our mentees are arriving from overseas, but domestic students moving cities or starting their first degree use MyUniMentor for exactly the same reasons.
