What is the difference between a lecture and a tutorial here?

My home university does not really separate them and I do not want to turn up to the wrong thing unprepared.

  • A lecture is one-to-many and often recorded, so missing one is recoverable. A tutorial is small, usually assessed on participation, and assumes you have watched or attended the lecture first. Turning up to a tutorial cold is the common first-semester mistake — it is the session where you are expected to talk, not listen.
