Is it better to live on campus or in a share house?

On-campus looks easier but costs more. Is the difference worth it in the first year?

  • On campus is worth it for the first semester if you can afford it, mainly because it solves the friends problem for you. After that most people move out — share houses are cheaper and you have worked out which suburbs you actually want to live in. If you go straight to a share house, try to see it in person or send someone you trust, and never pay a deposit for a place nobody has visited.
