Staff Access to Messages

MyUniMentor administrators can view messages exchanged between mentors and mentees. This access exists so we can respond to support requests, investigate disputes about a booking, and act on reports of harmful or unsafe conduct. It is used for those purposes only — never to read conversations out of curiosity, and never to share their contents with third parties or advertisers. Administrators may also send you a message directly from MyUniMentor Support, which appears in your inbox clearly labelled as coming from us.

8

Analytics and Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages people visit, how they arrived, and where they run into trouble — so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner; decline and no analytics cookie is stored. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers. Cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in are always required for the site to work.

9

Where Your Data Is Stored

Our application and database run on OVHcloud servers located in Canada. Uploaded files — including verification documents such as student IDs and transcripts — are stored in Cloudflare R2 and are served only through short-lived private links, never public URLs. Payment details are handled by Stripe and PayPal and never stored on our servers. Email is delivered through our mail provider. Because our servers are outside Australia, your personal information is transferred and processed overseas; we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with Australian Privacy Principle 8.

10

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

11

Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us immediately.

12

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the 'Last Updated' date.
